What is local SEO?

Let’s rewind just a little and clarify what local SEO is. Local SEO is the process of optimising your online presence so that your business/website appears when users specify relevant local searches. Google realises that people searching for florists probably don’t want to see search results from florists located halfway across the world.

So, to better serve local search queries, Google now shows what we call the ‘Snack Pack’ results. These results are displayed in a boxed area that appears towards the top of the page. As a result, the Snack Pack appears above the organic results when a local online search is done through Google’s search engine.

The results display the top 3 local business listings most relevant to the search enquiry.

So why is this good for local businesses? According to one study, 33% of clicks go to the local “snack pack” results, while 40% goes to the organic results. Organic results can take months to crack. A GMB listing can be claimed and optimised in a day, a no brainer right?

Being totally honest, this is a new website for us, so ranking for SEO Chesterfield is going to take time and patience. However, we have lofty SEO goals, and the keyword SEO Chesterfield is on our targetted keyword list. So watch this space. In due course, we will be on the first page!
